What Does Beauty Mean In China?

In China it’s usual to describe people by their visual appearance; ‘the fat one,’ ‘the short one,’ ‘the pretty girl, ‘the ugly boy.’ No-one seems to take offence, it’s just normal.

True beauty is in the eye of the beholder, we’re often told which is why one woman’s trash can be another one’s treasure, I suppose.

Taking this a step further I asked my group of ten Chinese teenagers about their concept of beauty and came away with some interesting answers.
